Terms of use

What are the rules for using IsItLegit?

Forward mail your business received or was asked to act on. Treat a verdict as evidence for your decision, not a guarantee. During the launch the service is free.

What is the service?

IsItLegit is a check and protection service run by Rizonetech (Pty) Ltd in George, South Africa. Members forward or upload a suspicious email, invoice, proof of payment, screenshot or voice note, and receive a verdict with the evidence we found. Protected businesses also register their domains, senders and bank details so mail in their name can be checked against their real identity.

During the launch the service is free, and sign-up requires an invite code (ask for one at hello@isitlegit.co.za).

What is a verdict, and what is it not?

A verdict is an automated technical check based on the message, the public records we could reach at the time, and any details the sender's business has registered with us. It is evidence to help your team decide what to do next. It is not financial, legal or banking advice, and a Clean verdict is not a guarantee that a message or payment instruction is genuine.

For any request to change bank details, our advice is always the same: verify the change on a phone number from your own records before you pay.

What we ask of you

  • Forward or upload only mail your organisation received or was asked to act on, from an address or domain you have verified with us.
  • Do not use IsItLegit to test lures you are building, to probe another business's defences, or to send us unlawful material other than suspected fraud you received.
  • If you register a Protected business, register only domains, addresses and bank accounts your organisation owns and is authorised to verify.
  • Keep within your plan's fair-use limits (up to 5 checks a day per organisation on Free check, and 50 during the 14-day trial) so the service stays responsive for everyone.

Protected businesses and bank details

You remain responsible for keeping your registered details current when your business changes accounts or email providers.

Service levels and liability

IsItLegit is provided during the launch period on an "as available" basis, free of charge. When a model is unavailable or a model spend cap is reached, you receive a report marked partial rather than a guess; when your organisation reaches its daily check limit (5 checks a day on Free check, 50 during the 14-day trial), further checks are refused until midnight South African time.

To the extent South African law allows, Rizonetech's liability for any claim arising from the free launch service is limited to direct damages and to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (which during the free launch is R0). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under South African law.

Changes, governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Updates to these free launch terms are published on this page with an updated date. No paid plan or charge exists during the launch period; if paid plans are introduced later, they will require a separate commercial agreement and opt-in before any charge applies. Questions about these terms go to hello@isitlegit.co.za.
